Bonanza Tours Peru has designed this tour package UNFORGETTABLE EXPEDITION IN THE PERUVIAN JUNGLE 6 DAYS / 5 NIGHTS in this spectacular amazon region of Peru. This immersive itinerary offers you to enjoy since High Andean Mountain then Dwarf Forest and later Cloud Forest and the following days the lowland rainforest experience, taking you for several hours in a small minivan and then by thrilling motorized boat a long turbulent and majestic river Alto Madre de Dios to our private Ecolodge Bonanza Ecological Reserve

Located Next to Manu National Park on the left bank of the Madre de Dios River, this lodge has 12500 hectareas of land provides an exceptional setting for an in-depth wildlife safari and pristine forest. This expedition will involve several days of hiking through the jungle, carrying our camping equipment and food. We'll enjoy wildlife, experience the pristine rainforest, and camp near a river. We'll return to the lodge via different routes and then take a boat back to camp on the banks of the Madre de Dios River to see a parrot clay lick. Afterward, we'll return to Cusco by boat and bus.

DETAILED PROGRAM

 

 

DAY 1: CUSCO - RAINFOREST LODGE 

We leave from Cusco by our private car, driving through the mountains, to get to the typical folkloric town of Paucartambo. Here we take a short walk around the town before carrying on to Ajanacu, the entrance to the Cultural Zone of Manu Park. From there we continue enjoying since the High Andean mountain then do some walk in Dwarf Forest to see Grey breasted mountain toucan (Andigena hypoglauca), Scarlet-bellied mountain tanager (Anisognathus igniventris) barred fruiteater (Pipreola arcuata), Later in the afternoon we will walk for several hours in Cloud Forest to visit a complex courtship behavior, performing impressive lek displays of Cock of the Rock national bird of Peru (Rupicola peruviana), quetzal (Pharomachrus mocinno),Trogon (Trogon collaris), Blue Crowned Motmot (Momotus coeruliceps),Gray woolly monkey (Lagothrix cana) and enjoy orchids growing on the rocks. Arriving early evening at our private Rainforest Lodge where we will stay overnight. 

 

 

DAY 2: RAINFOREST LODGE - BONANZA ECOLOGICAL RESERVE 

After breakfast we continue travelling by our private car towards Atalaya Port. On the way we stop to observe a coca plantation and the view point where you can get a spectacular overview of the jungle and the river. From Atalaya we travel by motorized boat along Alto Madre de Dios River towards Aguas Calientes, where we will enjoy bath in the natural hot springs. During the boat trip we will see many different kinds of animals Capibara (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris) especially birds Ringed Kingfisher (Megaceryle torquata), Cocoi heron (Ardea cocoi), burrowing owl (Athene cunicularia) and a beautiful landscape. In the afternoon we arrive to Bonanza Ecological Reserve. Early afternoon we prepare for the upcoming expeditions, and the group will visit observation tower we will climb and feel the adrenaline with every step, once you reach the top platform enjoy a breathtaking landscape framed by an endless sea of treetops, from this height we appreciate countless species of  macaws like Scarlet Macaw (Ara Macaw) Red and Green Macaw (Ara Chloropterus), Plum-throated cotinga (Cotinga maynana), Paradise tanager (Tangara chilensis) that are in constant activity, the treetops are also the favorite place of monkeys Squirrel monkeys (Saimiri bolivienses) that are looking for food and many other species that live at this height of the forest.  Soon the darkness arrive we will enjoy an exciting night walk in the middle of the tropical jungle full of life. In deep darkness, surrounded by hundreds of jungles sounds and with the help of powerful lights, you enter a world inhabited by the most unique, diverse and shy creatures. Many animals, especially insects, amphibians and reptiles, hide from predators during the day. Now is the best time to find beautiful tree frogs, shy snakes and other jungle creatures that only come out at night. From noisy night monkey" (Aotus vociferans), giant monkey frog (Phyllomedusa bicolor), Tarantulas (Avicularia avicularia), Wolf spider (Licósidos), Baterfly Buho (Caligo eurilochus). We will stay overnight at our private Lodge. 

 

 

DAY 3: CAMOUFLAGED HOUSE - CONDEJA RIVER 

This day we explore the jungle on our vast trail system, carrying with us our camping Equipments including water and snacks. On this expedition we will cross the jungle through swamps areas, small rivers, and virgin rainforest where will see many different kinds of animals such as monkeys Capuchin monkeys (Gracile capuchins), titi monkey (Callicebinae), collared peccary (Dicotyles tajacu) Saddle back (Leontocebus fuscicollis) and birds such as eagle’s harpy eagle (Harpia harpyja) Blue-headed parrot (Pionus menstruus) and White-throated toucan (Ramphastos tucanus), medicinal plants, and giant trees. Our lunch will be a cold meal cooked in jungle leaves (typical dish) By afternoon, We will continue our exploration of the vast Amazon jungle deep within Manu National Park, offering numerous chances to spot incredible wildlife, including 11 species of monkeys, vibrant butterflies, and many other fascinating creatures that make the Amazon so unique. After several hours of trekking, we’ll arrive at the clear waters of the Condeja River, where we will set up camp. This winding river is a prime location to potentially see giant otters, caimans, and even jaguars. Venturing into the heart of the jungle provides countless opportunities to witness wildlife, making your experience both thrilling and immersive. Our expert jungle guide will share valuable insights into the local lifestyle, including medicinal plants and the diverse fauna. After dinner we go for fishing and appreciate the White Caiman (Melanosuchus niger), noisy night monkey" (Aotus vociferans), and other fascinating night creatures.  We spend overnight in tents and mattress in the middle of the jungle.

 

 

DIA 4: CONDEJA RIVER – MAMMALS CLAY LICK

This day we will continue explore the jungle on our vast trail system, carrying with us our camping Equipments including water and snacks. On this day we will cross the jungle through more swamp’s areas, small rivers bamboo areas the way we will see more animals such as monkeys Capuchin monkeys (Gracile capuchins), titi monkey (Callicebinae), collared peccary (Dicotyles tajacu) Saddle back (Leontocebus fuscicollis) and birds such as eagle’s harpy eagle (Harpia harpyja) Blue-headed parrot (Pionus menstruus) and White-throated toucan (Ramphastos tucanus), medicinal plants, and giant trees. Our lunch is a cold meal cooked in bamboo from the jungle, (typical dish). We will continue exploring the pristine forest where we will have chances to spot incredible wildlife, more species of monkeys, vibrant butterflies, and many other fascinating creatures that make the Amazon so unique. After several hours of hiking, we walk in direcction of the camouflaged house where we spend the night protected with mosquito nets and you will get the experience of seeing the amazing wildlife behavior from animals such as Tapirs (tapirus terrestris), Red Brocket deers (mazama Americana), Paca Rodents (Cuniculus paca) Amazonian Long-tailed Porcupi (Coendou Longicaudatus) feeding on the mineral salts. We spend the night here taking shifts to watch for nocturnal animals.​ 

 

 

DAY 5: MAMMALS CLAY LICK - MUYUNA PARROTS CLAY LICK 

In the morning we walk back to the lodge from deep in the jungle via a different trail, after breakfast we will rest and cross the river by boat to explore another type of forest where we will delve into the forest once again the group will do jungle walk for several hours and visit observation tower you will as you climb you will feel the adrenaline with every step, once you reach the top platform enjoy a breathtaking landscape framed by an endless sea of treetops, from this height we appreciate countless species of  macaws like Scarlet Macaw (Ara Macaw) Red and Green Macaw (Ara Chloropterus), Plum-throated cotinga (Cotinga maynana), Paradise tanager (Tangara chilensis) that are in constant activity, the treetops are also the favorite place of monkeys Squirrel monkeys (Saimiri bolivienses) that are looking for food and many other species that live at this height of the forest. After all these activities we take our motorized boat river up until Muyuna Parrots Clay Lick, where we will spend our final night. We’ll share a delicious dinner around a roaring bonfire and camp in tents along the riverbank where we will camp with our comfortable mattresses provided. 

 

 

DAY 6: MUYUNA PARROTS CLAY LICK - CUSCO 

On the final day, we start very early by heading to the Parrots Clay Lick, where we can observe numerous parrots Blue-headed parrot (Pionus menstruus) Mealy Parrot (Amazona farinosa) and Chestnut-fronted macaw (Ara severus) feeding on mineral-rich clay. Afterward, we continue traveling upstream to Atalaya Port where our car will be awaiting to us to take through cloud forest and then dwarf forest later to Ajanacu, known as the gateway to Manu Park. From there, we proceed to the traditional folkloric town of Paucartambo. Where we enjoyed the scenery of the Andean mountains and farms by private car, enjoying arriving to Cusco in the early afternoon where you will be drop off by your hotel.
