Volunteer Work at Our Lodges

(Bonanza Ecological Reserve or Rainforest Lodge)

If you have 10 days or more, you can be part of our Volunteer Program, which offers a special daily rate in exchange for your support. Volunteers work five hours per day, and the rest of the time is free to enjoy the Amazon rainforest birdwatching, exploring local jungle trails, or simply relaxing in a hammock. The work is varied and flexible, depending on your interests and skills no previous experience is required.

- Trail clearing and maintenance

- Mapping and cartography

- Tropical gardening

- Wildlife monitoring and research

- Painting signs and displays

- Forestry activities

- Assisting with tourist services (translation)

- Updating bird, mammal, and plant checklists

- Building bridges, steps, and bird hides

Volunteers can participate in all stages of our conservation and eco-tourism projects. If you have a specific skill to offer, such as climbing or construction, you’re welcome to design a custom volunteer project with us.
Training and supervision are always provided.

Basic Rate

The basic volunteer rate is USD 445 for 10 days, which includes meals and accommodation at Bonanza Ecological Reserve Lodge. Please note that transportation, guided tours, entrance fees, and insurance are not included.

To reach Bonanza Ecological Reserve from Cusco, you’ll travel 8 hours by bus to Port Atalaya, followed by a 5-hour boat trip to the lodge. Alternatively, you can join one of our departing tours and pay only the transport cost. Once at the lodge, volunteers are welcome to join guided walks as part of our team.
